St Mary & St John Church of England V.A. Primary School

North Luffenham, Rutland

Community and partnerships

As a school, we are fortunate to be based in a strong village community. We have built links with our parish council and have the village community centre on our site.

St John the Baptist church, North Luffenham is our neighbour and we attend regularly to hold our collective worship together. At the major Christian festivals we hold community services eg. Harvest Festival and Carol services, where all are welcome.

We write an article for the Parish magazine monthly which is published and delivered to all houses within the Rutland Water Benefice of churches.

Father Peter Collins began his ministry across the Rutland Water Benefice in December 2025 and contributes regularly to our worship. We also have Rev Rush join us half termly to lead a collective worship.

Peterborough Diocese provides our school with training and consultancy support – we work closely with the education team and engage in the networks with other church schools.

We have links with schools across Rutland through the Rutland School Sports partnership and to develop our CPD offer to staff at SMSJ.

We also work closely with local Alternate Provision (AP) settings to support some of our children to access a more bespoke curriculum.

As a LA maintained school, we have good links with Rutland County Council education team who support as and when required as part of our school improvement journey.
