    Good morning,

Welcome to term 6! Our final term before the summer. It looks set to be a busy one too! I hope the nice weather continues :)

Your work for this week in maths is all about multiplying fractions, this is tricky at times but the videos on White Rose Home Learning are really useful. I have emailed the worksheets to you parents and they are added to our Class Dojo too.

Most of your parents are using Dojo now so hopefully you have all seen this. Please let me know if you are having any issues.

    Have a great day :)

Good morning everyone, Happy Friday 😆

Today is the last day of term 5! What a different term it has been. Our first made up entirely of home learning. I know you will all be looking forward to a bit of a break and some relaxing time with your families.

Before that though, I just wanted to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to all the parents and anyone else who has helped in this home learning experience. You have worked hard to make sure your children continue to learn and in so many cases develop new skills they may not have even learned at school! All of this for many of you alongside full time jobs working from home and the restrictions keeping you inside your house. This definitely won’t have been easy at time.

So on behalf of all of myself and all of the children in year 5, thank you! Enjoy your break!

But before you all have some time off and enjoy yourselves, there is a little matter of beating year 6 in the most eagerly anticipated TT Rockstars Battle of ALL TIME!

Good morning and welcome to Thursday,

You really have produced some excellent work for mental health week, I know Mrs F was really impressed with yesterday’s artwork!

Today’s work is looking at adding and subtracting mixed numbers. Remember to make sure your denominators are the same before you try to add or subtract. This will make things a lot more straight forwards.

In your English work, today is the day you could follow your recipe. I have already had so many cakes photos sent to me they have all made me very hungry!

TT Rockstars today is a sound check, I look forward to seeing how you have progressed after a lot of practice on this.

Finally it looks like another lovely day outside so hopefully you can have some time to relax and enjoy it safely!

Good morning, it looks like it is another sunny one too!

A fantastic day yesterday, I really enjoyed reading your 7 acts of kindness. Some of your ideas are so kind. I will pass them on to Mrs S who will add them to the class page.

I have had a few messages about finding the maths difficult. Remember to use the videos on white rose home learning to support you. We are currently on Home Learning Week 5. I know there are some tricky bits in there but you are all doing amazingly. Please keep going and do your best.

Yesterday I received a number of delicious recipes, I am looking forward to seeing some of the final products at the end of the week!

Finally, TT rockstars was a little bit low yesterday :( remember we have a competition with year 6 on Friday so we will need everyone to get involved!

There was some confusion over the maths, thank you to those of you who let me know :) I have corrected the error and sent the new sheet to your parents in an email.

I am just working my way through all of the amazing videos you made of your story from last week! You have blown me away again! You have shown such confidence in your presentations.

Make sure you enjoy today's mental health week activity and remember to take some time to be kind.

    Good morning,

I hope you had a lovely weekend and enjoyed some time outside in the sunshine :)

We have another busy but fun week of home learning starting today. In English we are looking at instruction writing and recipes! In our maths we continue to look at fractions and measurements. Spelling Frame has been set to focus on the ough sound within words. TT Rockstars continues daily with a challenge set for Friday to take on Year 6 in a One Day BATTLE.

As well as all of this, we are looking at Mental Health, this week is Mental Health Awareness week and each member of staff has created an activity for you to try. Please have a go at the activity each day and send in your attempts. We would love to share them with the school.

As it is Mental Health week, it is important that we take a bit of time this week to relax and think about our happiness and that of others. Is there someone in your house you could do something to help? I know you are kind, caring children and will help where you can so here is your chance.

    Happy Friday :)

What a busy week you have had! I have received so much amazing work already. I am really looking forward to seeing your final stories today! Your online learning has been fantastic all week, well done.

Yesterday I challenged you to make something to show just how much you love school. I sent some of your entries into the teachers and they loved them all. A real reminder to everyone just how important school is and how much you enjoy it and are missing it. Thank you so much for sending them to me. I will keep looking out for more over the weekend so please keep them coming in :)

Next week is mental health week and we will be looking at what this means every day next week as well as our maths and English tasks. So please have a peaceful weekend, it looks like the weather is set to pick up and we could be able to spend more time outside, which is always lovely.

I have attached the handwritten prayer I had sent into me to this blog please take a moment if you can.

    Good morning,

I am very impressed with the hard work you are putting in with your online work this week! Well done, you should all be very proud of yourselves. Please keep this up and doing your best, this will help us be in the best place possible when we go back to school.

On the subject of going back to school, we are get to hear any suggestion about when year 5 will be going back to school. So our online learning looks here to stay for a few more weeks at least. I know you are possibly becoming a bit tired of the same things every week, I am looking at some ways to change things next week to help you through to half term. Thank you for the messages you have sent to me about what you like and what you don't like.

I was thinking for a bit of a challenge today maybe you could write, make, record, paint, colour something showing all of the things you love about our school. I can then share these with the other members of staff who are finding this as lonely as some of you.

Lets focus on the things we love about being at school rather than the things we miss. For example I love playing football at lunchtime with all of my friends, rather than I miss playing football at lunchtime with all of my friends.

I very much look forward to seeing these today :) Be creative everyone, here is your chance to let your light shine!

    Good morning,

An excellent start to the week yesterday! I am very impressed with the MyMaths work you have completed. If you didn't manage to get it finished you can always catch up today :)

    Today's prayer

Dear Lord, Thank you for our lives. Help us through he good and bad times. Amen

I would really like some more prayers sending in to me, I have a few children who send them in regularly but I am sure more of you would like to share your thoughts.

I have spoken to a few children over the last couple of weeks, and I think as time passes the more we miss being at school. So a challenge for you today and for the rest of this week is to reach out. If you are feeling lonely there is a chance someone else in your class is too. Contact someone you haven't spoken to for a while and ask about their day. Talk about the weather, your garden, your pets, silly 10 year old children jokes that I don't understand, all of the things you do in class at EVERY opportunity :) (Teachers know this happens by the way) I know you are such a kind group of children, and will really help eachother at this challenging time!

Good morning and welcome back :)

I hope you had a fantastic long weekend and enjoyed the weather on Friday and Saturday. Hopefully you were able to mark VE Day on Friday in some way at home. Some of you may have been involved in street parties. I have seen some photos of these in the news, they looked like a lot of fun.

This week we will continue our work on an adaptation of Cinderella and in maths move to look at measurement. I have set this week's maths work on MyMaths, I just wanted to offer some variety to you so it will continue to change between worksheets and MyMathsover the coming weeks.

I look forward to seeing your work this week, please remember to send me in completed stories on Friday. I will be able to see your MyMathsonline so there is no need to send that in to me.

Mr Coynehas posted another challenge, I will try and add it to the sport page in wider curriculum when it becomes available.

I am open to running another quiz maybe for adults and children. If you are interested please let me know a topic you would like the questions to be on and I will try my best!

    Good morning,

What a beautiful morning it is outside. I hope that you can all enjoy the weather today :)

Your work this week has been outstanding, I am working through it and will get your feedback to you over the weekend to help you with next week's work. But overall, wow! Some of the things you are doing are outstanding, I have recieved beautifully presented videos, powerpoints and posters!

Tomorrow marks VE Day, had we been in school this would have been a very important day we would have marked at church. Some children have carefully placed Union Jack painted rocks and stones on the War graves. We have then emailed their families and had some amazing responses so if you wanted to add your stone or stones to the graves please do so as a mark of respect.

A beautiful prayer sent into me yesterday, I think sums up our world and why VE Day was so important to us all.

Dear Father in Heaven, Help us to make the correct choices and keep the wonderful planet you created a non violent world. Amen

Keep sending in the work and photos, I am going to work on sorting out the photographs on the class website today so keep your eyes open.

    Good morning everyone,

I hope you are enjoying being back working! I made a mistake with the spelling frame and TT Rockstars when I set it, I thought today was the 23rd so it didn't go live at the normal time. It is however working now. So if you tried before 9 and there was nothing there please try again. Thank you for the emails letting me know this had happened it was very helpful.

I can see some of you have made fantastic starts to our geography topic I have already seen maps and models, all of which look amazing! Please keep up the hard work on this, I know its not easy without getting out and about but you are doing great.

I am just going to take this opportunity to remind you to read! I am on my 3rd book now and I am really enjoying spending a bit more time reading than normal. Hopefully you are finding the same thing, I love sitting in the garden reading in this lovely weather.

Today's prayer takes us back to Easter:

    Dear Lord,

Give us time to think about the sacrifice Jesus made for us.

    Amen.

I have been looking at what year 6 have been up to and I think we should also do a weekly quiz so on Friday I will send out a quiz to everyone, you will need to answer all the questions and get it back to me by 3:30 to enter the competition.

Wow what an amazing start you made to the summer term yesterday! I have already received so much work and heard so many good things. I hope we can keep this up!

I have had some children already taking on the extra challenge activities I set you and have seen some seeds planted, lets measure them as they grow!

I have heard some really good things about the maths work and some people who have struggled, please keep up with it and see how it goes this week. I am sure you will find a routine over the next few days and it will become easier. Make sure you use the videos to help you, they are really good.

It is another lovely day outside please make sure you enjoy it if you can, maybe get a start on that topic of you local environment?

    Today's prayer

    Heavenly Father,

Thank you for our freedom, help us to inspire others around us to do good things too.

    Amen.

Today's quote comes from the Lion King 'as you go through life, you will see that there is so much we don't understand. And the only thing we know is that things don't always go the way we plan.' Whatever you are finding difficult today don't give up, you will get there.

    Good morning and Happy Friday!

Today we come to the end of our second week of home learning! I am sure there have been highs and lows too. I know you are all missing each other and being in school but I also know you are doing things at home which you have never been allowed to do before (like making cardboard Viking swords!) So please remain positive and try to embrace this unique experience. It won't last forever and we will all be back together soon enough!

Please keep helping your parents and remember to say thank you to them today as we come to what would have been the end of our school term! Remember they have been working incredibly hard, some of them teaching you as well as their own jobs!

Take a moment today to say thank you to everyone who has helped you learn over the last two weeks.

I won't be setting the online learning as I have been over the next two weeks however I will be adding an Easter activity booklet over the next couple of days to keep you busy.

I am sure you would hate for me to be missing out :)

The weather looks like it is going to improve over the next couple of days so make sure you get yourself out in your gardens. I challenge you to invent a new game it can be really complicated or simple. Write down the rules and send them in! I look forward to seeing them.

    Today's prayer:

    Amen

    Good morning, Happy April!

I am really enjoying the effort and creativity you are putting into this weeks science task of how you change as you get older. I am particularly impressed with the photos of you as old people using an app, very clever! This could be a good game of guess who when we get back to school!

This week at school would have been our build up to the important festival of Easter so please take a few minutes this week to remind yourself of the story. Mrs Wilce has added some activities to the Class Pages homepage for you to look at too.

    Today's prayer:

Thank you lord, for our chances in life, our food, friends and family. May we respect them and enjoy them always.

    Amen

I have noticed a fantastic increase in the number of you using TT Rockstars this week, remember to remind your friends too! I want to set up a challenge with year 6 but at the minute we don't have enough people taking part daily :(

    Today's prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, Give us power to encourage others. Let us look up to you and respect you.

Hello and welcome to week two of our home learning! I hope you feel like you are getting better at this because I know I do. I have had so much (and I really mean so much) work sent into me over the last week. I am working my hardest to reply to every email over the next few days, so please keep a look out.

Please keep the work coming in and also the other lovely things you are doing. You even inspired me to make a cake this weekend! I would have shared it with you all but you know, it was delicious and we are not at school. Maybe next time hey!

Please keep up with the Spelling Frame, My Maths and TT Rockstars this week. I challenge you to get every member of our class to complete the daily challenge set on each. Year 6 had the most completed last week and Mr F will be very happy about that! So please rise to the challenge this week! Message your friends check they have done it! We can do this!

Today's prayer for that quiet moment.

    Dear God,

Give us strength to be kind, happy and thoughtful. Let us be grateful for our life savers.

    Amen.

Please keep the prayers coming in to me this week.

Finally, keep reading, because "The more that you read, the more things you will know, the more that you learn, the more places you'll go."

Happy Friday everyone! What a lovely day it is again! I have had a lot more lovely photos of you all outside please keep enjoying yourself (as well as working very hard, of course)

I am looking forward to reading your book reviews and stories today, please send them to me when they are finished :) I need something to read this weekend!

I have had some more prayers sent in to me, so thank you very much and keep them coming.

    Today's prayer is:

    Dear God,

Please help us to think about the things we are doing right now. Please guide us to make the right decisions.

    Amen.

Many of you may have been involved in or seen the clap for the NHS last night! I was amazed with some of the things I saw, if anyone has any stories of this please let me know. I think at times like this it is really important that we think about these amazing people as well as other people who are helping our country to continue. I know you will be saying thank you in your own way!

Another amazing day yesterday, with so much work completed both online and sent in to me! Thank you, it is really nice for me to see what you are up to!

I have been directed to a link to Mr Kirlands YouTube channel where he is doing a daily music video. It is definitely worth a look! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwS9HVNN9Gc&feature=youtu.be

Today we have a birthday!!!! So if we could all sing happy birthday in our own homes at 3:30, I am sure she will hear us! I hope you have a fantastic day!

I have had the first prayer sent to me, (Thank you, keep them coming) please take a moment when you can today.

"Dear Lord, Please give us strength to defeat, let us celebrate in happy times, and praise you in name. Amen"

Finally I know this is a tough time for everyone, and many of you will now be staying in your homes, but I was reading yesterday and I came across this and thought I would share it with you. “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” I know how creative you all are and I have no doubt you can still enjoy yourselves!
