How to support your child at home

In Year 3, we have weekly home learning tasks to complete which will always be assigned on a Friday.

Spelling Frame - this will be set on Friday after new spellings have been introduced. We expect children to complete at least 2 tests weekly.

TT Rockstars Homework is ongoing with children's times tables. These are regularly updated based on your child's results from the test at the end of the week.  2 studio entries per week please!

Reading Homework - in Year 3 we expect  20 minutes of reading each night. Please support your child to write a comment on Boom Reader once they have read. These comments could  include a summary of what they read, a prediction of what they think will happen next, what they think a character might be thinking or feeling and an explanation why that might be. Please also allow your child to read a story more than once. It is proven that reading familiar stories expands children’s story telling capabilities. I would also endorse that your child should read books from home.

MyMaths - a weekly challenge is set for the children to complete, linked to their current focus in Maths lessons. This task is an optional piece of homework but it would be beneficial to consolidate your child's learning that week.
